SUGAR COOKIES/ using edible wafer paper

Oh I love these cookies
Pinned on my cookies board
This weekend I'm making some cookies..
I have a birthday party for my husband next weekend.
The following weekend my friend is having a open house at her quilting store
I am bringing goodies and I thought the thread cookies would be amazing
We'll see how they look when I am finished with them.
This is my go-to recipe for sugar cookies
I just made the dough and stuck it in the fridge
Tomorrow I will be rolling, baking and decorating

AMERICAN SUGAR COOKIES
2 Sticks softened margarine
1 cup sugar
Cream together and add
2 eggs
Beat well
Add
3 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Refrigerate overnight
Roll to about 1/3" cut out and bake at
350 10-12
Yeah this is how my cookies turned out
minutes or less depending on thickness
For cookies I sell or when I am trying to impress:
I get Wilton Meringue Powder and follow the Icing recipe included
This is the recipe my Mom and I have always used and even though it
has a raw egg white- no one has ever gotten sick I swear

             MY    ICING
3 Cups Powdered Sugar
1 Egg white
Beat well and add milk a small amount at a time until it's a consistency that you want

                                                                OK didja see my cookies??
OMG thought they would look more amazing but at least I know they will taste good.
I used meringue powder and made royal icing.. The really amazing ones right on top of this paragraph           that didn't come out to well with my camera are wafer paper from Fancy Flours-I love that site.

It is an easy and amazing way to make very memorable cookies that will astound your friends.
Cut your wafer paper as close to the design as possible, make your sugar cookies in the shape of your
paper, make and let cool. Make your frosting and place your paper-be sure to get it where you want
it the first time because honey there are no do=overs..

Smooth it out gently and for the edges that show dip in colored sugar, jimmies, wherever your                       imagination takes you.  One of the pictures above is a vintage wafer paper about buttons.
So I made buttons in a button mold from Wilton using edible modeling clay-or gum paste.
Let the buttons dry and then adhere to the cookie with some frosting-people will freak-honest.

No Chunky, keep your paws off
